The University of Vaasa has degree programmes where teaching is held somewhere else than in Vaasa. As a rule, library services have been arranged in co-operation with the university library of each place of education.
University libraries are open public libraries, so students can obtain a library card to any university library in their area and borrow printed books. You can check available books in the national Finna.fi search service.
Most of the electronic materials of the University of Vaasa, like databases, e-journals and e-books, are available to students via remote access anywhere: just login with your HAKA credentials to University of Vaasa Finna.
You need a library card to use certain e-book services (Ellibs, Biblio). The e-books in these services can be found via University of Vaasa Finna. All other e-resources, like databases, are available by logging into Finna with university’s HAKA credentials.
You can create a library card by following the instructions on this page.
We send textbooks to our students in Finland by cash-on-delivery. Prices start at 19,90 €. You can also return your loan to us by mail at your own expense, our address is Tritonia PL 331 65101 Vaasa. Please notify the library in advance of the return by e-mailing loans@uwasa.fi. The customer is responsible for books that get lost in the mail.
Note that textbooks for online degree programmes are as a rule located in a library in the place of education, and students should primarily use these books.
Textbooks are not sent as interlibrary loans to other libraries, because there is a limited number of textbooks available, and they are meant for students of the university and universities of applied sciences in Vaasa.
If you have forgotten your PIN code, you can change it yourself easily in Finna (go to Login --> before you login, click the link where you can change your PIN). Remember to use the same e-mail address that is in your Finna account's profile!
The PIN code can also be changed at the service desk to a new code of your choice, you have to have your ID with you. We do not change PIN codes by phone.
Students of the University of Vaasa who are writing their thesis are entitled to free interlibrary loans for their thesis provided that they are registered customers of Tritonia and the interlibrary loan request is made in Tritonia. The interlibrary loans are printed materials that have to be picked up from Tritonia and returned to Tritonia. Interlibrary loans are not sent to customers by mail.
